The Most Influential: Muslims Included

Today, Time magazine released The 100 Most Influential People in the World. As I was going through the list, I started to see Muslim names and faces. I so eagerly read each story hoping to see another one as I hit next. It was quite inspiring for me because I know these men and women made a difference by standing up for what they believe in. But then I thought, how many other men and women are standing up for what they believe in every day that are not able to be recognized for their amazing devotion and work? Too many. I take this time to recognize all the people struggling around the world to make a difference in whatever struggle they are going through, you are each vital to the growth of humanity. I then thought about myself, and what I could be doing to be 'influential'. Maybe being a hijabi working at the biggest accounting firm in the world is a small 'influential' step in my own book, but I hope to one day make a bigger difference and show that Muslim women are influential in more ways than one, and we do have a voice.
